Center Emergency and Crisis Plans must be individualized (who will help children and any accommodations that may be needed for that child). It should broadly address special needs, for example children with mobility issues and chronic medical conditions.

This course provides technical assistance and step-by-step instructions to licensed center staff so they can gain insights regarding what to do during specific emergency and crisis situations. Participants will review sample plans for fire, tornado and serious accident/injury/ illness and natural or manmade disasters (power and water outage). They will also review plans for crisis situations (bomb threat, suspicious package, missing/eloped/abducted child, active shooter, intruder in the building). They will view procedures for assisting infants and toddlers as well as for assisting special needs children. In addition, participants will review plans for evacuation and relocation as well as for contacting and reuniting families.

WHAT'S UP?

WINTER TIP

Even in the coldest months, fresh air and physical activity are essential for children's health and development. Encourage daily outdoor play even during winter months.

Dress little ones in warm, weather-appropriate clothing and plan fun activities to keep them moving. By getting outside, they'll boost their immune systems, improve their mood, and burn off energy.

However, it's important to remember to always prioritize safety. If weather conditions are hazardous, such as extreme cold, heavy snow, or icy roads, it's best to perform indoor activities that encourage movement and keep little ones indoors.

RENEWAL READINESS

Many licensed child care providers get into the industry because they love children. Due to time constraints, many providers make the mistake of focusing the majority of their time on providing care leaving little or no time for administrative tasks.

Every year the weeks leading up to the annual licensing visit are filled with anxiety as providers rush to get ready for the annual inspection. Let us help!
