About the Course
WHAT TO DO IF A CHILD IS MISSING
Immediately call your local law enforcement agency.
After contacting law enforcement, the Director or designated staff member will call the missing child’s parent or guardian to inform them. Throughout the process and after notifying parents and law enforcement, the staff members will continue to search the facility and grounds for the missing child.
Search: Closets. Restrooms. Classrooms. Building parameter. Piles of laundry. In and under cots. Inside large appliances. Vehicles – including trunks. Anywhere else that a child may crawl or hide.
Contacting the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children at 1-800-THE-LOST® (1-800-843-5678) is a great additional resource.
