About

As childcare professionals, our top priority is the safety and well-being of the children entrusted to our care. This course focuses on crisis management, equipping you with the knowledge and skills to respond effectively in a variety of crisis situations. In Module One we will discuss actions to take if there is a bomb threat or a suspicious package. Module Two will begin by exploring strategies to prevent these situations and then we will look at some strategies and protocols for immediate action if a child goes missing. In Module Three, we will look at best practices for safe and efficient evacuation from the building, with a focus on relocating children and staff to a designated safe location. We will also consider how to reunite families with their children after relocation. We'll walk you through procedures for reuniting children with their families following an emergency situation. In Module Four, we will look at the what do during a Lockdown and Sheltering-in-place: We will define sheltering in place and explore procedures to take during this type of emergency. Understanding the different protocols for securing the building and keeping everyone as safe as possible in the event of a threat inside of the building as well as understand what actions to take when there is an outside hazard is critical. By participating in this training and practicing these procedures, you can prepare to handle any crisis situation and take actions to ensure the safety of the children in your care. Remember, even in the most stressful situations, remaining calm and following established protocols is key.

WHAT'S UP?

WINTER TIP

Even in the coldest months, fresh air and physical activity are essential for children's health and development. Encourage daily outdoor play even during winter months.

Dress little ones in warm, weather-appropriate clothing and plan fun activities to keep them moving. By getting outside, they'll boost their immune systems, improve their mood, and burn off energy.

However, it's important to remember to always prioritize safety. If weather conditions are hazardous, such as extreme cold, heavy snow, or icy roads, it's best to perform indoor activities that encourage movement and keep little ones indoors.

RENEWAL READINESS

Many licensed child care providers get into the industry because they love children. Due to time constraints, many providers make the mistake of focusing the majority of their time on providing care leaving little or no time for administrative tasks.

Every year the weeks leading up to the annual licensing visit are filled with anxiety as providers rush to get ready for the annual inspection. Let us help!
